Get The Breakdown Of Hellblade's Movement & Control Schemes

Hellblade

The latest Hellblade developer diary has been released and it shows off some of the great work that has been done on Hellblade's movements and controls

Here we go with yet another developer diary for Hellblade and this time we are looking at how the movement and controls for the game have been specially crafted by Ninja Theory. It may not sound like it would be that impressive but given the size of the team and what we get to see here you may be singing a different tune. Hopefully you remember that the Hellblade team is still on the small side and with only two animators here. None the less it looks like some great things will be coming to the PC and PS4 in terms of Hellblade here.

The thing that is the most interesting here is the design that the team has taken to make Senua feel like a completely real person in Hellblade. This is important given the focus on what the team is trying to give with the game and the real issues and ideas mixed in. Hellblade is about sanity and trying to portray a character in such a way that we get a real feel for the break in sanity that most media doesn't take completely serious. Nothing would ruin that more than making the protagonist of Hellblade not feel completely realm in terms of watching here move and/or talk.

Some of these techniques used are not completely ignored or not used on other games in the past but it is rare that someone wants to aim for such attention to detail as we see here in Hellblade. Of course they did start with mo-cap which was new for Ninja Theory but it is what the animation designers do with all of that is what is truly the most impressive thing. I really can't wait for Hellblade to release and hope to see that more like this in the future.
