Mortal Kombat X
During the most recent Kombat Kast for Mortal Kombat X we were able to see one of the new characters for Mortal Kombat X in action and it looks like something extra is hidden in
It is no huge surprise that during the ESL Pro League finals that we got a look at one of the new characters for Mortal Kombat X coming in the new DLC. It is kind of how NetherRealm Studios rolls as of late. This time we were treated with a nice look at Mortal Kombat X's new Tri-borg character that is an amalgamation of Cyber Smoke, Sektor, and Cyrax from the franchise's past. I would have loved to see some of the other characters coming to Mortal Kombat X but at least we have a start as we wait for the Kombat Pack 2 to land for the Xbox One and PS4 on March 1st.
As was assumed by many, each of the variations that Tri-borg has in Mortal Kombat X will be tied to one of the other cyborgs in his system. Each will have all of their fan favorite moves and combos from MK9 but they will each have their own little extras just for Mortal Kombat X. It wouldn't really be a new character if it didn't have some other kind of flare added into the mix. But for the most part Tri-borg in Mortal Kombat X is just as we all though these characters would be in the game; for the most part.
Here is a look at what was shown off for Mortal Kombat X during the Kombat Kast that took place over the weekend and at the ESL championships.
Mortal Kombat X — The Cyber Initiative
The variations broken down.
- Sektor (LK-9T9) — Gains Sektor's Specials and Abilities
- Cyrax (LK-4D4) — Gains Cyrax's Specials and Abilities
- Smoke (LK-7T2) — Gains Smoke's Specials and Abilities
You may have stayed around in the above video after Tri-borg was shown off or you may have left. If you didn't stick around you may have missed another "Skin" coming to Mortal Kombat X in the way of Tri-borg from NetherRealm Studios. At least the word skin was used but upon closer examination it looks like there may be a whole other character mixed into this character making him Quad-borg instead. That character being Cyber Sub-Zero with more than just a nice, frosty skin on top of all of the others.
The specific clip of this is just below for you to see. At first glance it does look like just a skin for Mortal Kombat X as it turns Tri-borg blue but once in motion the character has a lot of the familiar moves that we would expect from Cyber Sub-Zero in general. In fact if you freeze the last shot before they cut back to the hosts of the show you can see a combo and move list specifically set up for the character in Mortal Kombat X. Is it possible that NetherRealm Studios is altering the three variations mechanic in the game? It could just be for this character at least as it makes a bit more sense.
Mortal Kombat X — Cyber Sub Zero
Now that you've seen Tri-borg in action for Mortal Kombat X, how do you feel about the character? Does it still seem like a bit of a cop-out to cram three characters that could have been separate into one? Do you think that Cyber Sub-Zero is a full other variation in Mortal Kombat X and we may see more like this with other characters in the near future? Let us know what you think down in the comments below. As we get more Mortal Kombat X news and videos out of Warner Bros. we will have them all here for you. Be sure to stick around so you don't miss out on a thing.
