A Few New Looks At Friday The 13th: The Game & How Spawning Works

Friday The 13th

We have two new counselors for Friday The 13th: The Game to look upon and a new update on just how spawning will work in Friday The 13th for both sides of the camp

As is to be expected with how Friday The 13th: The Game is being developed we have yet another update on the game and how some of the mechanics will work for us when we finally get to play it. This time we get a look at how Gun Media is going to handle characters spawning into the game map in Friday The 13th. Not only that but we also get a look at two of the other counselor archetypes that we will get to hack and slash to death, or help them escape if that is how you roll, in Friday The 13th: The Game.

First we have a nice look at the spawning system for Friday The 13th: The Game. No it isn't gameplay but more of how the mechanic works and it is keeping to the core of Friday The 13th when all is said and done. Unlike other games in the genre you may not be spawning into the game's map right next to the rest of the counselors trying to survive. You may spawn next to one or two but it will all be situation as would be fitting in Friday The 13th. For instance two of the players could spawn in next to each other after having fished up a fun romp in the hay, or you could be getting your "swag on" with a small group of other counselors, or you could have just been out in the woods all by your lonesome. No matter the case the spawning for Friday The 13th: The Game really drives home the franchise feel.

As for how Jason spawns in for Friday The 13th the only bit we have here is that it is always preceded with a counselor scream. Most likely an NPC but used to notify the others that the match has begun and Jason is roaming the map. I wonder if that will be an option only for certain maps but that is how it has been described so far in Friday The 13th: The Game and what we can expect until Gun Media gives a solid update on that specifically.

Now that we know how they will spawn into Friday The 13th: The Game, let's have a look at a couple more of the counselor archetypes that we will get to play. Specifically the new concepts released as The Athletic Girl and The Preppy Guy. Both staples in the Friday The 13th franchise and fully expected in the video game here. It is nice to see that they didn't go with Token Black person and Guy We Hope Dies as archetypes yet in Friday The 13th: The Game yet. Those wouldn't be fun to play as characters but would be fun "weapon" characters to use as the distractions they are in the films so the heroes can sneak away.

What are your thoughts on the spawning system used for Friday The 13th: The Game here? Does it sound like it is going to truly be more along the film settings than the normal gameplay would dictate? Would you like to see "toss away" characters in the mix of the hero counselor's arsenal for Friday The 13th in terms of distractions used on Jason? Let us know and feel free to discuss in the comments below. As Gun Media floods us with more on Friday The 13th: The Game we will have it here for you so be sure to stay tuned into the site for all those updates as they come.
