We have a release date for Minecraft: Story Mode's first episode as well as the details on Minecraft: Story Mode's physical version of the episodic adventure

In a weird twist of Telltale Games' release model it looks like we have a release date for Minecraft: Story Mode's first episode about a month early instead of the usual week or so. That does of course mean that those looking forward to Minecraft: Story Mode should be glad to know that on October 13^th the premiere episode for the game will be hitting the PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, Xbox One, and PC for your gaming pleasure. Those looking for this episode of Minecraft: Story Mode on their iOS or Android devices will have to wait to make the plunge into Mojang's franchise on October 17^th. Those holding out for the PS Vita and Wii U versions of the game will have to wait just a bit longer as dates have not been given for those platforms just yet.

Of course that is all for the digital side of Minecraft: Story Mode. If you are looking to get you greedy little mitts on a physical copy of the game, unlike the other titles that Telltale Games puts out, you will only have to wait a shorter turnaround time as that version will be available on October 27^th for the PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, Xbox One, and PC versions of the game. No waiting half a year to get it all bundled together on a disc here for Minecraft: Story Mode. But don't let that lead you down a path of thinking that the release timeline for each episode has equally been altered here for Minecraft: Story Mode.

While you will be able to buy a physical disc of Minecraft: Story Mode on October 27^th it will only contain the first episode of the game and a season pass for the rest. To put it bluntly, the physical version of Minecraft: Story Mode will have episode one and then you'll still have to download the other four episodes in the season as they come out digitally. This kind of ruins the point of buying the physical disc doesn't it? Why wait to play Minecraft: Story Mode's first episode when you'll still have to get the rest digitally? This makes little sense to me but I guess humans out there will pay and wait for it so that is all on you then.
