Hellblade Has Not Been Canceled But It's Progressing

Misconceptions of the design process that Hellblade is going through and Tweets from the developer has led many to think Hellblade has been canceled when it is in full swing

Concerns about Hellblade being canceled have popped up due to a few of the most recent updates on the development process that Ninja Theory is currently at. To be specific they stated via Twitter that "A vertical slice is a testbed of ideas, not part of the final game. It has been retired and we have started #Hellblade production afresh." That can be a bit confusing to those not on the inside of course and I can completely see how some took that as Hellblade was no longer going to be coming to the PS4 anymore. Don't let the panic sink in just yet though.

Thankfully Ninja Theory has been quick to assure us that Hellblade has not been canned and that this is all a good thing. In fact this is all something most of you out there who have been following Hellblade from the start should have known given the developer diary that they put out there around the time of E3 this year. Of course humans being what they are they all jumped to the worst case scenario but just know thatHellblade is now in full swing of production and all that was scrapped was a small demo to show the world the high concept of the gameplay and get test feedback to make Hellblade the best they can.

Hellblade — First Playable

Personally I blame the mentality of offering "betas" as bonuses for the confusion here for Hellblade. Sometimes games need to be prototyped and tested in a very unfinished version to make sure that developers like Ninja Theory are on the right track in the development process. They go into a lot more detail on their site but all in all the only thing that was scrapped for Hellblade was a ten minute demo that was slapped together for journalists who don't fully understand the development process. Not Hellblade in its full form. You should know that now by watching the above and seeing what they showed off at Gamescom.

Have you been put to rest over Hellblade being canceled here? Did you have any worries in the first place? Do you sometimes wish that the users on the internet didn't always have a knee-jerk reaction before doing any level of research? Let us know and discuss down in the comment section. Since we now know that Hellblade is in full production mode that means we should be getting some real new updates and news for the game out of Ninja Theory. I know I can't wait.
