You know it's been a good week when you can bookend it with great horror news like we have with Until Dawn here. We still have just under a month to wait, August 25th, before we get to experience Supermassive Games' latest title on the PS4 and from what I've seen and heard so far we shouldn't be let down. It looks like most of it is going to be solid and Until Dawn has finally hit gold status in the development cycle so now the waiting game takes place. I wish I had some other amazing horror title to play in the interim but for now we'll just have to go with the Until Dawn gameplay footage that is all of the net for now. I really hope it doesn't spoil too much of the game's story.
If watching gameplay and possibly spoiling bits of Until Dawn's story doesn't strike your fancy then let me present you with something completely different to whet your whistle until the end of August. It looks like we have a few tracks of Until Dawn's score to listen to just in case. All of which coming from Jason Graves, great name for a horror score composer, whom you may know from other titles like The Order: 1886, Dead Space, and Evolve. Quite a great background to lend to Until Dawn and you can be the judge for yourself; at least a little bit as we have three tracks just down below for your listening pleasure. Hopefully they will get you into the mood for Until Dawn just that much more.
Until Dawn — Killer Theme
Until Dawn — Mountain Theme
Until Dawn — Sam's Theme
I do have to say one thing here for Until Dawn and its gold status. I could have sworn that we were going to get more large actors announced for the game and the voice/mo-cap department based on how secretive everyone was at PSX. So far it's only been the two big names and the rest kind of look like generic people that most likely do mo-cap as their everyday occupation. Don't get me wrong as I am okay with this in Until Dawn but the people I spoke to at Supermassive Games made it seem like each character in the game was going to have some kind of star's weight to it and I am still only counting two. Maybe the killer of Until Dawn will be some crazy hidden actor that was kept under-wraps like with Se7en but that would only make three out of the ten main characters.
What do you think of the score coming to Until Dawn here? Does it sound just as it should for what Supermassive Games is going for? Do you have the same questions that I do now that Until Dawn has gone gold? Are you just going to wait until August 25th to push them harder? Let us know that and all thoughts on Until Dawn down in the comments. Keep checking in here for all things Until Dawn as we will hopefully have all the updates you could shake a dead teenager at in the coming weeks. That would be a little hard to shake right? Depends on what is doing the shaking for Until Dawn I guess.
