There have been a whole lot of leaks and hints before now but it is not official, this year's Assassin's Creed title is called Assassin's Creed Syndicate. Looks like most of us were not that too far off from what Ubisoft was working on since the last letdowns for the franchise. Thankfully though, and according to the tease before the world premiere of Assassin's Creed Syndicate, Ubisoft has taken all of the past criticism for the Unity and Rogue to try and make this next title the best in the franchise to date. There words not mine of course.
So what can we expect from Assassin's Creed Syndicate? Well first up is that it is set in the Victorian age of London. 1868 to give an exact year here. Also it looks like we have two protagonist assassins in Assassin's Creed Syndicate: Jacobs and Evie Frye. They are twins who are both assassins and trying to help "free" London's poor from their oppressors as long as they all work for them in their weird assassin/organized crime family. As of this writing it hasn't been made clear if you can play as both or if they just both have lead roles in the narrative of the story.
There is more to it all but let's take a quick break and see the debut trailer for Assassin's Creed Syndicate. Enjoy.
Assassin's Creed Syndicate — Debut Trailer
So you may have seen a few cool little things in that trailer above but let's hit up a few other "knowns" for Assassin's Creed Syndicate. Like the fact that all of the big swords and ax weapons have been removed to fit the game's setting and replaced with faster, more in-your-face weapons that fit the "modern" assassin here. Among the list here would be a Kukri, Revolver, Brass Knuckles, and a new Assassin's Gauntlet with Grappling Hook and Hallucinogenic Darts in tow. All of which to fit the faster pace of life and hopefully the game's overall story. I am digging the closeness of it all here.
Assassin's Creed Syndicate — Jacob Frye Trailer
To go along with all of this for Assassin's Creed Syndicate it looks like we are deep in the mix of the Industrial Revolution and with that means trains and faster buggies to travel around. Not only that but we can also use all of these new modes of transportation in every way you could think in an Assassin's Creed title. I am a bit hesitant on what was shown for the buggy chase in the premier gameplay for Assassin's Creed Syndicate as I think they would have rolled ten times over but it is at least a nice little touch to give us all something new for the franchise.
Assassin's Creed Syndicate — Gameplay Walkthrough
Lastly, it looks like we can expect Assassin's Creed Syndicate a little bit before the normal release window that the titles normally get. Assassin's Creed Syndicate is currently slated for October 23rd for the PS4, Xbox One, and PC. I am still a bit torn myself as I like some things and hope other things have been fixed since the pre-alpha footage was taken. If not then I can see Assassin's Creed Syndicate having the same issues we all saw with the last few titles in the franchise. I hope Ubisoft isn't blowing smoke up our skirts when they said they have been learning.
Enough from me though, what are your thoughts on Assassin's Creed Syndicate? Does it look like a title that could save the franchise and bring more people back to it? Are you a fan of the other altered histories and wish they would have selected one of those? Let us know what you think and hope to see in Assassin's Creed Syndicate down in the comments. Maybe Ubisoft will learn and use those to better the overall franchise in the future.
