There is no doubt that Wolfenstein: The New Order was an amazing addition and revitalization to the franchise. In fact it was so good I wanted to play through twice not for the deviating story lines but to enjoy it all again. Well it looks like we are getting even more from Bethesda and MachineGames as they have just announced a prequel to Wolfenstein: The New Order titled Wolfenstein: The Old Blood due out on May 5th for the PS4, Xbox One, and PC. Sorry to all of those last-gen users who loved the game.
Wolfenstein: The Old Blood isn't a full title from the sounds of it as it is only listed as having two main missions and that it is only listed to be priced at about $20. Granted they could be some massive missions that we have to help B.J. go through as he witnesses the end of WWII and how the Nazi's won it in the alternate timeline. In fact the first mission of Wolfenstein: The Old Blood has us going up against a maniacal prison warden as he breaks into Castle Wolfenstein in an attempt to steal the coordinates to General Deathshead's compound. The second mission has us in the city of Wulfburg where an obsessed Nazi archaeologist is exhuming mysterious artifacts that threaten to unleash a dark and ancient power. All the goodness we should expect in Wolfenstein: The Old Blood I guess.
Wolfenstein: The Old Blood — Official Gameplay Trailer
Here are some of the other features we should look to expect in Wolfenstein: The Old Blood:
- The Action! — Experience MachineGames' intense first-person combat as you brandish all-new Nazi-inspired weapons such as the bolt-action rifle, 1946 shotgun, and the grenade-launching Kampfpistole. Unlock your potential with a new set of perks for hi-octane action and vicious stealth take-downs.
- The Adventure! — Explore breath-taking set pieces featuring rural Germanic towns, sprawling valleys tangled with cable cars and bridges, ghostly catacombs, as well as a return to the iconic Castle Wolfenstein. Use dual-wielding metal pipes to navigate the world with brand new wall-climbing abilities.
- The Terror! — Go up against a new cast of vicious villains and enemies, including legions of hulking new Super Soldiers, elite shock troops, drones and the darkest and most terrifying Nazi creations yet.
So new enemies, new weapons, and new locations in Wolfenstein: The Old Blood. Not a bad mix and for a low price. I only wish we had a bit more new gameplay for Wolfenstein: The Old Blood in the above trailer; even though I am sure it will be a lot like New Order. We don't have to wait too long though as Wolfenstein: The Old Blood will be shown off to all during PAX East and via Twitch. I guess I'm just ready for all of the heart pound, high action I've come to love in the new version of the franchise and don't want to wait.
What do you think of Wolfenstein: The Old Blood? Sounds rather nice for the price doesn't it? Or did you hate the new Wolfenstein title? Let us all know your thoughts and discuss in the comments down below.
