A Better Look At The Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain Chicken Hat

Back around Christmas the hopefuls for a Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain release date were trolled and shown a new hat that can be used in the game. The chicken hat for those who don't want to go back and read. Some though this was still a joke that Hideo Kojima was running on everyone but it looks like Konami and Kojima Productions have confirmed the hat more so by giving us all some nice new screenshots and a better description of how the hat will be used once we actually get the game. Hopefully this year some time but that is still a great mystery to be solved for Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain and that may take a lot longer than solving P.T. Technically it already has but that is a different story altogether.

So the Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain chicken hat… What does it do? Well while looking silly after donning it and keeping it on during serious cut scenes it will allow you to skip difficult sections. At least that is what has been officially stated now from the developer and publisher even though Mr. Kojima indicated that it would also slow down enemy reaction times as well as cones of vision to just help you get through sections and not just skip. Kind of a mixed message we are getting for Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain's chicken hat but I'm sure that will all get ironed out as the release date is geared up and planned for a huge announcement like the multiplayer.

While this Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain chicken hat is a silly thing indeed I like the fact that Kojima is trying to not fully alienate weaker players for his franchise. Metal Gear Solid can be a rough game for those who don't have the patience for stealth and espionage. I find at times it was always a lot easier to just run and gun during past games. Of course this would ruin the whole "never be seen" aspect of the reward system and also begs the question of if this will affect the same system for Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain. Will wearing the silly chicken hat still let it count that you stealthed your way to the end or does it lock all that out? Another great question to wait and hear about.

Now back to waiting for that ever elusive Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain release date. It has to be soon right?
