I think my definition of traps is vastly different than those of the people behind Dying Light's marketing. We have a new trailer for Dying Light just below that claims to show off the traps of the game but most of what is show is that of the player using the environment to their advantage and nothing lying in wait. The whole point of a trap is to set something up so that you can have it spring on something while you are busy handling something else isn't it?
Semantics aside though we do get to see some more fun ways to kill the infected in Dying Light. That is going to be one of the larger selling points for the game in my opinion and what could be more fun than setting up a concrete pipe on a train rail in the hopes to have an Indiana Jones style killing spree? Not much more than that. Well, that is until we see the crazier weapons for the Dying Light and maybe some more actual traps here.
Dying Light — Traps
See what I mean here? Shooting the ground that happens to be covered in gasoline isn't a trap. That is just using the environment to your advantage. I hope this is just the basics of the traps we are going to be seeing in Dying Light for now. Maybe they are saving the really good stuff for the actual game. We are only a few months from the launch now so one can only hope. Although I don't think the lack of traps in Dying Light is going to kill the game out of the gate.
