It's been about two months since we had a full character announcement for Mortal Kombat X so it is about time to see a new character. Yea, we did kind of get Goro announced but that doesn't fully count as NetherRealm and Warner Bros. didn't give us any information on the character outside of being pre-order DLC. We need a full character announcement with variations and Kombat video to go with it. I guess it's a good thing that they just gave us all a look at Quan Chi in Mortal Kombat X so we don't have to riot and burn cities to the ground.
Yep, and it's no big surprise, Quan Chi is coming back to the arena in Mortal Kombat X to murderize us all. Well more make us murderize ourselves as that seems to be his style but he is now on the roster of fighters for the game. To be honest it is not really a big surprise as he seems to have also become a staple of the Mortal Kombat franchise over the years but it's always nice to have a good look at the character before April of next year. Of course that is also what we have for all of you out there as well. Here's a breakdown of the styles that Quan Chi will employ in Mortal Kombat X before you can see them in action.
- Quan Chi
- Warlock — (Can conjure portals which add additional attacks)
- Summoner — (The ability to summon a Netherrealm Bat)
- Sorcerer — (Can cast magical fields that augment self or cripple opponent)
Mortal Kombat X — Quan Chi
As with the other characters in Mortal Kombat X it does look like Quan Chi has one pointless style that was needed to make the round number of three. In this case I'm talking about the Summoner style. He summons a bat that does a bit of damage and that is about it. I do hope that there is more to this style than just that. In fact this looks like the most pointless style I have seen thus far in Mortal Kombat X. The rest are pretty damn decent but Summoner looks more like a waste of time to try and master as the bat shows up and adds maybe a single hit to a Kombo. Like I said, it looks like it was just tagged on as the other two styles complimented Quan Chi well.
I also won't be surprised if someone makes a big deal about the bit of a fatality that we were able to see at the end of this video. Maybe it is just my messed up brain but it was very homoerotic even though Quan Chi was just forcing Kano to kill himself. Granted it was killing himself by slowly taking a sharp phallic object to the mouth but it isn't anything we haven't come to expect from the Mortal Kombat franchise. I have no concerns about it but I am sure that there is going to be some form of uproar somewhere down the line. Mark my words…
