Been Jonesing For Triple Triad? Eminence: Xander's Tales Has You Covered

If there is one thing I loved about Final Fantasy 8 it was Triple Triad and it looks like it is making a comeback with Eminence: Xander's Tales. Yep, the best feature of one game is becoming the sole mechanic behind another game, at least in a close enough way that there shouldn't be any legal battles; hopefully. It's not like Aeterna Studios is using any of the assets here, just some of the basic mechanics to fuel the gameplay along to hopefully give us a story as it is also slated as a MMORPG.

I know you want to see Eminence in action a little bit so I'll give you a gameplay trailer here just so you can get all those nostalgic juices flowing in your system. Keep reading after the video though as I'll have a breakdown of what makes Eminence: Xander's Tales more than just a Triple Triad clone.

Just as a word of note, that was a concept demo more than anything for Eminence: Xander's Tales. It only showed the core card game aspect but there are plans for a deep community and storytelling aspect to mix in; hence the MMORPG mention for the game. Although there isn't much information on that but I have a feeling it will tie into the mechanic in the game that lets winners of the game actually take the cards from opponents that have just lost. So it can be a gamble and change things for you when it comes to powerful cards.

There isn't much more than a few more bits of concept and such but what do you expect as Eminence: Xander's Tales is still looking for funding. In fact the Kickstarter campaign is slated to start up this August for all of us who really want to have this card game on our phones, tablets, or desktops. I know I am excited to get just the card game alone but all of the rest will be just that little extra.

We'll update as the Kickstarter campaign goes live as well as how it looks to be progressing over the coming weeks before and after that.
