Yesterday we got the official announcement of The Last Of Us Remastered to move the title from rumor to fact. It was all in the form of just banners and text but now we have a trailer to show off all of The Last Of Us' accolades and achievements as well as claimed footage for the PS4 version of the game. This makes a bit more sense as the game has been stated to have been in the works since the launch of the PS3 version, so a little over a year now. Let us have a watch and see how these upgraded textures, character models, lighting, and shadows are going to look in this upgraded masterpiece. Here's the trailer.
Um…did they mislabel this trailer? I know debut can mean a few things but I was expecting to see something directly from The Last Of Us Remastered and not what looks like the game I have already played on the PS3. Just to clarify for those who can't get my meaning, did they just show us the PS3 version here and this is more of an announcement trailer than a debut trailer? There looks to have been no upgrades at all; at least to the scene that Naughty Dog has shown us here.
The only thing I can think is that The Last Of Us just looked that damn good in the first place and that any upgrades are going to be subtle. As I stated before, I am not too sure how much they are going to be able to upgrade The Last Of Us Remastered without completely changing things that should take way more than a year to do. The game doesn't come out for at least another three months or so to meet the Summer 2014 timeline but I just don't think that there would be enough time to do it right. For now I will take this as a miss labeled trailer and not the sign of the true upgrades spoken on.
We'll update here as we get new news. Until then, have another viewing of The Last Of Us Remastered's 'debut trailer'.
