Brave Arms: The Facebook FPS

3G Studios just announced that they would be crafting a first person "social shooter" for Facebook, arguably the most popular social networking site on the net. It seemed like this was in the making, the idea of a Facebook as a platform for more robust content (i.e. something a little more in-depth than say Farmville or Mafia Wars). As more and more companies seek to establish a presence on sites like Facebook, like EA staking their claim for instance by picking up Playfish, this seemed like a natural progression. So what does 3G Studios have in mind?

Brave Arms

Brave Arms will allow players to create and customize in game avatars, then play against friends. Seems like fairly standard fare but I think the fact they are planning to launch this specifically for Facebook makes me more interested, especially for the final execution. Players can earn points while playing, and they can take those points and use them within the game's store. I would assume, much like other games that have appeared on Facebook, that you'll be able to buy points with real currency.

Previous titles that 3G Studios have been responsible for include: SWAT: Target Liberty for the PSP, and Jillian Michaels' Fitness Ultimatum 2009 for the Wii. Before your groan the latter of those titles broke 600,000 copies sold.

Yeah, that's what I said.

You can reserve your username for the title here.
