Take on the role of some Ants in the recently revealed video game Empire Of The Ants
The creepy crawlies are coming out here, and we are not talking just about Halloween fun, as we have the reveal of Empire Of The Ants. Yes, we have another video game that will place us in the role of an insect or colony of insects that will have us facing off against various others out in the world. Microids do seem to like to get these titles out there, and that is to the benefit of Tower Five since it is their game. Enough of all of that, though, let us have a look at just what Empire Of The Ants is going to let us all do in a very photorealistic way of things when it hits the PC and consoles in 2024.
In Empire Of The Ants, we play the "ant savior" of sorts who needs to lead the rest of the colony out into the world to rebuild their lost home. All of that and all of the other elements that come with being a leader trying to keep the rest safe. I am fairly certain that is the role of a different member of the colony, but I am not a specialist on ants, so we will just roll with. Something that the rest of the colony will have to do as they are swarmed by beetles, mantis, and other creepy crawlies in the world that would like to do nothing more than eat them. Thankfully, I have not spotted the traditional spider that these games would normally have, but I am sure that is coming.

While getting to play as various ants in a game does not overly appeal to me, I do like how the team is using the power of Unreal Engine 5 here to capture some of the visual glory. Something that can be harder to do when dealing with human characters, but is hitting it fairly well here in the game. Even in the early stages of it all, and I am sure that Empire Of The Ants will only look better as we get closer to the launch of things. I am curious to see how the gameplay will actually function to complement all of that. I would hate to only have a game that looks pretty but offers up nothing in terms of good gameplay. Something more than just crawling and climbing around too.
