South Park: Snow Day Is Giving Us The Most Magical Day In Our Lives

South Park

The next South Park video game has been revealed with South Park: Snow Day taking it all into 3D

The most glorious and magical day of a child's life is about to be given to us all with the reveal of South Park: Snow Day. Okay, maybe not every child's life, as I grew up where snow rarely ever fell, but that is the tag that Question Games and THQ Nordic are going with as it is part of the IPs story. This is South Park after all and they do have a different thing going on out there in things. Something that we will all get to see in 3D when the game lands on the PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Switch, and PC next year. Yes, you read that right. This one will be in 3D. To add a kicker, it will also be a four-player co-op title too…

Now that we have let that sink in a bit, this South Park title is looking like it will deviate from the last two hits that the IP has placed out there and looks to be going closer to a brawler style of game. There is still going to be the same over-the-top humor and voice acting in the game, as the trailer alludes to, but the New Kid we will be playing with here looks to be taking in a few friends to bash it out with others in the city. An odd choice given that a snow day would normally mean that most of the city would be shut down for safety, but this is South Park again. Now we just get to see how our movement and bashing will play into a larger story that will leave the city in ruins.

South Park: Snow Day — Reveal

South Park Digital Studios, THQ Nordic, and Question Games announce South Park: Snow Day! – the coolest 4-player co-op game, in 3D.

Join Cartman, Stan, Kyle, and Kenny, in three-dimensional glory, to celebrate the most magical day in any young child’s life - a snow day! Grab up to three friends and battle your way through the snow-piled streets of South Park on a quest to save the world and enjoy a day without school.

South Park: Snow Day available in 2024 for PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch.

South Park: Snow Day does seem to be using many of the usual things that the IP does well, but 3D has rarely been one of those. It, obviously, looks like this will be used to fully set it apart from the other titles that a different publisher and studio have been working on and had some major success with. Sadly, to me, this all looks like some of those early video games this IP and others saw, which were just quick cash-ins for the IP with little else to offer up. Given how the heads over at South Park Studios have been handling things as of late, this should be a minor concern, but it still feels that way. Maybe once we get to see some true gameplay and story, those worries will be put to rest.

Is this the kind of South Park video game you were expecting to see after the last two great ones we had on the platforms? Will the 3D look only be used to make sure it stands apart from the others but will still house all of the great writing and gameplay we have come to expect from the teams? Do you agree that it feels like it looks like many of the exploitation titles from the early 2000s or is that just how the 3D mixed with the normal style will always look? Sled on into the comment section below and discuss all of those thoughts and others. We are going to be keeping a close eye on South Park: Snow Day, so be sure to keep on coming back to see all of that and much more.
