Stray Gods: The Roleplaying Musical Is Kicking Things Off Now

Stray Gods

The Stray Gods are now out there with the launch of Stray Gods: The Roleplaying Musical on all of the platforms

Talk about a title that caught my eye back when Stray Gods: The Roleplaying Musical was first announced. It blends so many aspects of video games out there that I have grown to love on top of all of the Greek religion in the mix. This is why I am glad to see that Summerfall Studios has finally made it to the point to release the game on the PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Switch, and PC. All so many more out there can experience the musical and choose-your-own-adventure gaming that Stray Gods should be bringing us all. At least as the demo did a while back before. Now the game has launched and we can see if it will live up to it all.

If you have missed out on what Stray Gods is bringing, this is a musical game that places us in the role of Grace after witnessing the death of a Muse. Their power is transferred onto Grace and the rest of the gods out there are suspicious as to how that happened and who out there is killing Gods. Grace is tasked to figure this out or meet the same fate, but given that it is a story through the Muses, the bigger set pieces are handled in the normal musical format. It is in the name of Stray Gods: The Roleplaying Musical in the first place. Not to mention a fun and new way to tell the story in the video game instead of just having us select dialog options and watch it all play out.

Charm, negotiate, or strong-arm your way through their world as Grace, playing through original, fully interactive musical numbers composed by Grammy-nominated composer Austin Wintory, Tripod (musicians Scott Edgar, Steven Gates, and Simon Hall), and Eurovision Australia’s own Montaigne (Jess Cerro). Fully orchestrated and performed by an all-star cast, you’ll feel as though you’re right there on the stage. With thousands of potential variations based on your choices, you’ll craft the soundtrack to your own one-of-a-kind musical experience.

In a modern fantasy world, college dropout Grace is granted the power of a Muse - power she’ll need to find out the truth behind her predecessor’s death before time runs out. You’ll decide who Grace allies with, who she can trust, and who may betray her in this beautifully hand-illustrated roleplaying musical.

No two playthroughs are the same - how will the curtain fall?

A video game for musical lovers, and a musical for video game lovers, Stray Gods: The Roleplaying Musical is a compelling story of hope, self-discovery, and forging your path.

I had the chance to play through the demo for Stray Gods a few months ago, and I had a blast with it. Now that the full game is out there, I am looking forward to giving that a go and seeing just what I may have missed and how it will play differently each time. We will have many options to make as the game goes on and that will change the story and music along the way. Especially since we have options to select different singing styles mid-song that will change a few things in Stray Gods too. You can see all of that on our channel and a bit of it in the trailer above. Now it is time to join the gods and put some music into the world again.

Did you have a chance to play the Stray Gods demo before now or will this be your first step into the title here? Do you like the musical style the game is giving us or is it just a gimmick that only works in a few places? How many of the gods will die and how many will still be alive by the end of the game? Take to the comment section to discuss all of that and figure it out for yourself. We are going to share all that we can for Stray Gods: The Roleplaying Musical on the site, so please keep on coming back for those updates and many others.
