by David 'Hades' Becker [ Friday, 19th of April 2013 - 09:05 PM ]
Given all the horror and evil in the world right now it seems perfect time to announce Bethesda and Tango Gameworks' new title The Evil Within. This is what the Bethesda has been teasing with the Vine clips they have been posting. You can see the full announcement trailer below if you are finished with being teased. So far, details are extremely sparse on TEW. Outside of the announcement and following images, the only other concrete detail is that it is being helmed by Shinji Mikami. Read More...

PAX East Hands On: Outlast
by Kenton Winkfield [ Tuesday, 26th of March 2013 - 06:44 PM ]
PAX East was home to many Indie games this year. So many, that most of the games were located in a section called the Indie Mega Booth. Outlast was one of the games that had their setup in this area. Outlast comes from the brand new indie developers Red Barrels. The company is a 10 man team from Montreal, with each person having experience working with companies such as THQ, EA, and Ubisoft. The team joined up to create and deliver incredibly unforgettable single-player games. With Outlast being their first game, I can say they have already found themselves a comfortable spot in my memory bank. Read More...

Let's Look At The Game Play Of The Walking Dead: Survival Instinct
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Thursday, 7th of February 2013 - 11:12 PM ]
Now that we've all hopefully had time to wrap the story heavy version of the franchise, it's time we looked at the action FPS version with The Walking Dead: Survival Instinct. The Activision/Terminal Reality game coming out here in a month's time. Not much has been said or shown until now, but it is well known to be a FPS and feature the story of two of the AMC TV Show only characters. I'm talking the Dixon brothers in case you haven't been up on the details since its initial announcement. If you look below we have what is called the "Game Play" trailer for the game. Read More...

The Phantom Pain - New IP Or Sequel/Prequel
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Tuesday, 11th of December 2012 - 12:10 AM ]
Since the first trailer for The Phantom Pain was shown during the 2012 VGAs, there has been a butt load of internet chatter and "conspiracy theories," if you can use that term here, over if it is linked to the Metal Gear franchise or a new IP from a new studio. Internet sleuthing seems to point more toward the prior over the latter, but what if it is a whole new IP? Yea, I get that the people who are supposedly linked to The Phantom Pain are known for all their quirks and fun ways to announce their upcoming titles, but what if? For the un-initiated, if you look below you will see the mentioned trailer as well as a few screen shots from said trailer. Read More...

Outlast - A New IP From Red Barrels
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Wednesday, 17th of October 2012 - 06:37 PM ]
Who's ready for another Survival Horror game to hit your computers? You? Good. Looks like Red Barrels has something in store for fans of the genre. Outlast is the name and surviving or 'outlast'ing the horrors of Mount Massive Asylum is the game, so to speak. Here's what we know outside of the new trailer below. In the remote mountains of Colorado, horrors wait inside Mount Massive Asylum. A long-abandoned home for the mentally ill, recently re-opened by the "research and charity" branch of the transnational Murkoff Corporation, has been operating in strict secrecy… until now. Is Silent Hill Downpour Going To Have Child Abuse Now?
by Fred Buell [ Tuesday, 20th of September 2011 - 05:39 PM ]
Most likely not, unless the new trailer for Silent Hill: Downpour from Tokyo Game Show 2011 is sending hidden messages other mixed in with the new visuals and little bit of story. They did just use Korn here and while the music adds a bit of creep to the whole thing, it is an interesting choice given the music the band started out with. While their themes would be a bit fitting for the town of Silent Hill, I think we are still a way off from Konami adding that into the mix. I could be wrong. Read More...

Comparing Silent Hill: Downpour To Alan Wake...
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Thursday, 21st of April 2011 - 08:48 PM ]
So I was trolling around the net, as I am want to do, and I stumbled across some interesting discussions surrounding Silent Hill: Downpour. Primarily people talking about how the latest screen shots, seen below, are very reminiscent to some of the visuals in Alan Wake. So close to the point where I have seen a few people state that Konami is just ripping off from the game. There is also some people trying to defend the fact that because it looks close it doesn't mean it is a rip off. I would say they are interesting points except for the fact that Alan Wake was almost a blatant rip off of a franchise that was around for years prior. Read More...

Silent Hill Downpour Screen Shots, No Rain Puns Here
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Thursday, 27th of January 2011 - 09:47 PM ]
While other sites are taking the easy correlation to subtitle for Silent Hill: Downpour and the amount of screen shots we just had showered on us, I am going to take the high ground and not make an easy pun. Have to keep it classy and not say that Konami let loose the flood gates with these screen shots. Also not say that here's a monsoon of new looks at Silent Hill: Downpour. We are so much higher brow here. Read More...

[Xbox 360] Silent Hill Homecoming Review
by [ Friday, 31st of October 2008 - 05:43 AM ]
Silent Hill: for fans, that name is synonymous with fear, psychotic episodes, trippy visuals, and mindbending storylines. For everyone else, it has meant playing with the lights on, confusing and convoluted plotlines, and horrible controls. With the recent release of Silent Hill: Homecoming, the sixth entry into the Silent Hill franchise, Double Helix Games sought to better your survival horror experience. Did they succeed? Yes, in a number of ways. Read More...

Who Doesn't Like A Zombie
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Thursday, 23rd of October 2008 - 09:07 PM ]
Tips for eating brains Really who doesn't? Well the people behind World of Warcraft just showed their love for them in their latest world event. At least in my opinion. In this event, there are boxes located in every port city that has the ability to turn your toon into a flesh craving zombie. From there, you get a few extra abilities to play around with in the game. Like say, bite a NPC and turn them into a zombie. Bite friend and turn them. Read More...

New Survival Horror Queen, I Dub Thee
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Wednesday, 15th of October 2008 - 03:52 PM ]
Jovovich Makes Time for Clock Tower Ok, so I was out of the loop on this until now. First, I didn't know they were making a movie based on one of my favorite childhood survival horror games, Clock Tower if you didn't catch it above. Notice I said one of my favorite survival horror games. This will be pertinent. Well today I just found an update on this and the actress, Milla Jovovich, that made me secretly love the films based on my favorite survival horror game, Resident Evil, is now going to be in this film as well. Playing Alyssa Hale, although it is listed as Alyssa Barron elsewhere. Read More...

Get Read For Z-Day
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Wednesday, 9th of July 2008 - 06:23 PM ]
Sony Combines Zombies And... Google Earth So here's a fun sounding idea. You take zombies and cities. You plot them out on a map. Then you use Google Earth to save all the people who were not ready for Z-Day. Brilliance! And it is call The Last Guy. Sounds a bit like playing Infected only using the top down map view, but still, it is a great idea. Could really help you finalize your zombie plan in your own town. Even though it breaks one of the cardinal rules of Z-Day. Read More...
