Review: X-Men: Destiny
by Corey Dockendorf [ Tuesday, 18th of October 2011 - 05:55 PM ]
I am both a fan of X-men and comic books in general. I have many fond memories of playing the four-player, beat-em up style Konami arcade game back in the 80's and I have spent more than a few hours playing Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2 with my buddies. Silicon Knights' newest title, X-Men: Destiny, should have been a no-brainer - backed by such a great concept as it boasted being the next great brawling action game where you could create the mutant you always believed should be in this universe. Unfortunately due to its execution, the game becomes really diluted, which knocks it down a few notches on the likeability scale. Before the game starts, the game will ask you to choose one of three distinct characters - each with their own minor story line. Read More...

Review: Grand Prix Story
by Brian Bentley [ Wednesday, 10th of August 2011 - 05:17 PM ]
Mobile gaming has come a long way in terms of game design and depth. One of the leading developers in this area is Kairosoft. Their first big hit, Game Dev Story, turned a lot of heads, gaining critical acclaim for their simulation of running a video game development studio. Their latest release on the Android platform is Grand Prix Story – a simulation of running an automobile racing team. Start your smart phones! You start out by choosing your racing team’s name. Review: Duke Nukem Forever
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Tuesday, 28th of June 2011 - 08:55 PM ]
Nearly 14 years in the making, Duke Nukem is back in action in Duke Nukem Forever. It was shaky and seemed like it was never going to hit shelves, but Gearbox and 2K Games proved most of us wrong. But is the FPS any good or at least been worth the wait? Welcome as always to where I come in. The Story Twelve years after the events of Duke Nukem 3D, Duke is living the high life as a national hero/treasure in Las Vegas. All seems well. That is until the aliens that he took care of so long ago decide to attack instead of finish the peace talks they are currently working on. Read More...

Dungeons and Dragons - Daggerdale Review
by Corey Dockendorf [ Friday, 10th of June 2011 - 09:14 PM ]
I've been waiting along time for a new Dungeons and Dragons game to hit store shelves. My wish was finally granted with Atari and Bedlam Games release of Daggerdale.  A D&D 4th edition title that boasted 4 player online play, hours of dungeons and a return to the Forgotten Realms and the world of Faerun in epic proportions.  Well, it looks like Bedlam and Atari really missed the mark on this one - by a longshot. We will begin our story with the challenges faced simply to acquire a copy of the game, I went to 4 different stores only to be told that it was only available on the Xbox Marketplace for download. Review: Brink
by Corey Dockendorf [ Monday, 23rd of May 2011 - 04:59 PM ]
Brink is a fast paced, multi-faceted first person shooter, and brought to us by Splash Damage and Bethesda Softworks. With its intuitive free-running style game play, and great stylized graphics, is it enough to keep this title from the Brink of extinction? Brink is set in the near future, where two factions battle for control of a floating city known as the ARK. The Security and The Resistance are plagued with overpopulation and poverty, and have decided that the ARK is not big enough for the both of them. There is a story line for each faction and sixteen missions total in the campaign. Read More...

Who doesn’t dream of high-speed car chases and the thrill of racing? Well, the Racin’ Pro portable racing chair from Subsonic gets you just a little bit closer to that dream. Subsonic is giving players the tools to have a first class driving experience as if they were in the arcade themselves. What sets the Racin’ Pro chair apart from the competition is its portability. Review: Mortal Kombat
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Thursday, 5th of May 2011 - 06:08 PM ]
Once again the forces of Outworld are attempting to invade Earthrealm, an invasion that will lead to the enslavement or death of every living soul on Earth. That is if Raiden, God of Thunder, and a handful of fighters fail to fight for our right to live and kill each other on our own terms in Mortal Kombat. A tournament that uses the term "mortal" extremely loosely. Besides the main story of this fighting game, there are many other modes for players to enjoy. Read More...

Review: Portal 2
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Tuesday, 19th of April 2011 - 10:02 PM ]
So here we are again, apparently only a few months after the events of Portal (assumed from in-game interactions). Still trapped in Aperture Science. Still being tested. But importantly, Still Alive. Alive and needing a final escape from the insane AI running the facility that is now hell-bent on enacting revenge for what Chell did in the first game. Along the way making a few surprising friends to help your escape and mastery of all the Science that was going on. There is really no way to simplify the story without giving spoilers here. Review: Killzone 3
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Friday, 25th of March 2011 - 11:11 PM ]
Here we go again. It's time to try and end this conflict between the I.S.A. and the Helghast once and for all. Picking up right after the events of Killzone 2, we are thrust right back into the mix of it in Killzone 3. All to meet the end of saving Earth from the new tech and tactics of the Helghast who are still hell-bent on doing just that. Outside of being a continuation, Killzone 3 is also one of the titles that Sony seems to be relying on to show off their tech and hardware capabilities. So outside of pleasing fans of the franchise, Guerrilla Games and Sony have a lot on their plate as far as expectations. Read More...

Review: Knights Contract
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Monday, 21st of March 2011 - 09:26 PM ]
It is time to travel back to the early Burning Times. A time when religious superstition and fears drove many good and innocent people to the gallows or to a public burning at the stake. A time depicted and twisted for Game Republic and Namco Bandai's most recent endeavor, Knights Contract. In Knights Contract you play Heinrich Hofmann, an experienced witch-executioner plagued by a curse of immortality, who charged with the task of protecting a witch by the name of Gretchen as she attempts to save the world. The world is being threatened by a mad scientist, named Dr. Faust, who is trying to gain the same curse Heinrich has, as well as rid the world of witches all together. Read More...

Review: The AGlove, It's So Rad
by Corey Dockendorf [ Tuesday, 8th of March 2011 - 10:21 PM ]
Recently I just got back from vacation in Utah where I took on their cold weather, snow and a Park City Bobsled Run; all in the same day. As I was waiting for one of my buddies to finish their run, I thought I would play a little Gun Bros on my android phone. Now picture this. I'm on a mountain, in the freezing cold, standing in snow and about to take out my TOUCH-SCREEN phone and play a game. Impossible, I know. Normally I would desperately try to get enough heat to the tips of my fingers to actually use the touch screen just to unlock the stupid thing. Read More...

Review: Bloodline Champions
by Corey Dockendorf [ Tuesday, 25th of January 2011 - 08:52 PM ]
Bloodline Champions is the latest game from Swedish company Stunlock Studios and Funcom. Before you read any further let's get this question out of the way, "No this is not a DoTA clone." It is an online multiplayer arena based game. This game has no character leveling, power progression and no storyline. Thus making it easy for beginner players to hop into the action but also has enough options to reward the more advanced players. So let's jump into the arena. Read More...

Review: PDP's Collector's Edition Tron Wii Remote
by Corey Dockendorf [ Monday, 17th of January 2011 - 09:46 PM ]
By Matthew Dockendorf I recently received an awesome piece of equipment from the company PDP gaming. Many out there know them as the creators of Afterglow controllers. I got a chance to test one of their newer products, the Collector's Edition Light up Tron Wii remote. First of all, everything about it looks fantastic. The sleek black blue and white remote came with an easy open magnetic black collectors box, complete with rainbow holographic certificate of authenticity on the inside lid. I won't lie. Read More...
