by Brian Bentley [ Wednesday, 25th of April 2012 - 04:42 PM ]
Matt, Corey and Brian are at it again for another rousing episode of the Aggrocast. The guys touch on a myriad of topics this episode ranging from Lollipop Chainsaw to Double Dragon Neon to the next installment of God of War. Matt does a tell-all on his experiences at PAX East, including his kinect-winning performance. There is also plenty of talk about the recently released technical specifications for the PC version of Max Payne 3. We also talk about their latest adventures in gaming - including World of Warcraft, Hero Academy, Dante's Inferno, Mass Effect 3 and Witcher 2. Read More...

PAX East Hands-On: Double Dragon Neon
by Matt Waitt [ Thursday, 12th of April 2012 - 04:39 PM ]
On the floor of PAX East was a small booth that had a pillar like set up with four different games. One of those games was hidden away from the casual viewing eye. That game was Double Dragon Neon, an upcoming XBLA game that not only impressed me with its beautiful art style, but also its nostalgic atmosphere. I know the audio quality is not the best, but hopefully you guys can understand everything. Read More...

PAX East Hands-On: The Secret World
by Matt Waitt [ Wednesday, 11th of April 2012 - 09:26 PM ]
During the hectic weekend at PAX I got a chance to check out The Secret World, the new MMO from Funcom. I sadly didn't get any play time due to interviews and my horrible memory. But I do have a video for you guys, so please enjoy. The Secret World comes out for PC on June 19th, 2012 developed by Funcom and published by EA. Read More...

PAX East Hands-On: Borderlands 2
by Matt Waitt [ Wednesday, 11th of April 2012 - 04:17 PM ]
Borderlands 2 is a massive improvement from the first installment. The controls are super smooth and tight. The feeling of level grinding seems to have disappeared, thankfully. Having other colors in the game, rather than just brown, has really showed off the rich and beautiful landscape that the world of Pandora has to offer. I got to play as the new Siren in the game: Maya. Her special ability stuns her enemies in a blackish purple vortex allowing you to get off some free shots. Read More...

PAX East Hands-On: Spec Ops: The Line
by Matt Waitt [ Tuesday, 10th of April 2012 - 09:48 PM ]
At PAX East I got to try out a little bit of the single player campaign for Spec Ops: The Line, and had a great interview with one of the developers. I really enjoyed the demo at PAX East. It was very smooth and had responsive controls. There events where you had a chance to negotiate with your enemies, but if things went sour you had to reap the consequences. For instance one group of enemies had a hostage and was threatening to kill him. Instead of waiting for them to assassinate him, I made a quick decision to kill the enemies and save my team mate's life. Read More...

PAX East Hands-On: Aliens: Colonial Marines
by Matt Waitt [ Tuesday, 10th of April 2012 - 05:28 PM ]
I had the privilege to speak with the senior producer of Aliens: Colonial Marines at PAX East over the weekend. They were also giving a demo of the Multiplayer. The Multiplayer was very team oriented and forced you to work together to defeat your opponents. The only mode we played was Team Deathmatch. The marines would all huddle around each other and pick off the Xenomorphs as they tried to separate the marines. One on one a marine has a very high chance of losing to a Xenomorph mainly due to its "pounce" ability. Read More...

PAX East Hands-On: Wreckateer
by Matt Waitt [ Monday, 9th of April 2012 - 10:28 PM ]
At PAX East I got to try out Microsoft's Kinect for the first time ever, and the first game I played on it was Wreckateer. Wreckateer is an XBLA game that revolves all around destroying castles (hey, who doesn't love wrecking stuff?) The plot behind destroying castles is that you are a part of a demolition crew who is hired by the king to destroy abandoned and unwanted castles that have been overrun by goblins. Stepping forward and putting your hands together loads up the catapult, as you step back the catapult draws back, the more you move backwards the more powerful the shot. You then spread your arms apart and the shot takes off. Read More...

PAX East Hands-On: Lollipop Chainsaw
by Matt Waitt [ Monday, 9th of April 2012 - 04:36 PM ]
During PAX East I got to get some playtime with Lollipop Chainsaw and interviewed the legendary Suda 51. Lollipop Chainsaw had some very smooth and tight controls, chaining attacks between kicking and swinging the chainsaw was simple enough to button mash if you wish, but at the same time complex enough to satisfy those who frown upon the mashing of buttons. The demo started off in a farm-like area, where some good ol' zombies popped up and begged for me to slay them (not really, but I could tell they were asking for it). Every time zombies pop up there is a counter on-screen that tells you exactly how many are there and need to kill. Read More...

PAX East: The Sight And Sounds
by Binh Nguyen [ Wednesday, 31st of March 2010 - 03:47 PM ]
If you were not able to make it to Boston for PAX East, do not worry that is why we were there. Some of the booths were so busy with people surrounding the screens, it was hard for me to even get a decent picture. But Michael and myself met a lot of people like Adelle from Gametopia, her husband Dan from Gametopia, Rich from Gametopia/Bitmob and some of the crew from Bitmob. As you can see from the Cosplay article there were a lot of strange creatures in the convention center, but there were a lot of nice people as well. Just my bad for forgetting to get a picture of the great people until it was too late. Read More...

Shank Cometh
by Kevin [ Wednesday, 31st of March 2010 - 01:41 PM ]
I've been following Shank for a while now, and I've been consistently impressed by the visuals and the style of the game. It's like a 2D explosion of sweetly animated vengeance carefully marinated in some of the craziest violence that does not include a certain Devil Who May Cry or Dual Wielding Busty Librarian Clothed In Her Own Hair. Developed by Klei Entertainment, makers of such downloadable goodness as Eets and N+, Shank has action to spare. Here is Shank killing a giant butcher. Read More...

PAX East: Cosplayers Came Out To Play
by Binh Nguyen [ Monday, 29th of March 2010 - 10:34 PM ]
Boston has their own anime convention called Anime Boston. You would think that even with just that convention the people in the Boston area would be satisfied dressing up as their favorite anime, cartoon, and video game characters. Well that was not the case here at PAX East. With all the video games demos, accessories, and many other items on the show floor, the Cosplayers came out and showed what they had in their closets. Some of which was pretty good. Like the Bayonetta twins (no they weren't actual twins), the guy in the Gear suit, and the Team Fortress 2 group. Read More...

PAX East: Civilization V
by Binh Nguyen [ Monday, 29th of March 2010 - 03:17 PM ]
So Civilization fans will be happy to know that 2K Games was kind enough to show at PAX East that they will be coming out with a brand new Civilization game called... Civilization V. Nice title huh? You are probably wondering why they would want to make another Civilization game after the success of Civilization IV? Just like any games with a huge success rate, there were features that were taken out due to time, money, or wasn't able to be fit into the previous titles. Yes there are DLC and companies could always add them in later, but what if the engine was not equip to handle the features for the DLC, than what? Read More...

PAX East: Mafia 2 Impression
by Binh Nguyen [ Sunday, 28th of March 2010 - 04:49 PM ]
Mafia originally came out on PC in 2002, then later on the orginial XBox, and then PlayStation 2 in 2004. Several years later 2K is releasing the second installment of the Mafia series with Mafia 2. Here at PAX East, we got the opportunity to sit down and play a demo of the game. Here is what I have to say about it. New Engine: 2K Czech has created the brand new Illusion engine for Mafia 2. I spoke to Dan, one of the lead Developers for Mafia 2, he told me that because of how the original Mafia was and how much the dev team wanted to in the first one but couldn't. Read More...
