High Speed Thrills In Most Wanted's New Single Player Trailer
by Greg Tatterfield [ Friday, 21st of September 2012 - 05:31 PM ]
Criterion released a new game play trailer this week showcasing some new single player features in Need For Speed Most Wanted. One feature that really stood out was the ability to modify your car’s performance parts on the fly. Some of the modifications that can be made to your car include a reinforced chaise to help you take down your rivals and a nitrous boost to leave other racers in the dust. If the cops are on your tail you can foil their tactics by equipping re-inflating tires to be able to run over spike strips or equip impact protection to your car to blast through their roadblocks. Unlike many other racing games all cars will be unlocked from the start of the game. Read More...

Michael Bay Directed Need For Speed: The Run Commercial
by Bryan Ray [ Thursday, 10th of November 2011 - 10:16 PM ]
I don't know how but I managed to stumble across a television commercial for a game series I forgot existed, the Need For Speed franchise. This one is about the latest one, Need For Speed: The Run. The commercial hit like one for a large Hollywood blockbuster. If it weren't for the CGI people you would have a hard time convincing me that this was for a video game. This is likely because it was directed by the one and only Michael Bay, who can tell a story with explosions like no other. The environments and vehicles look phenomenal! Read More...

Review: Need For Speed Shift
by Ben Brody [ Wednesday, 23rd of September 2009 - 12:01 PM ]
Let's be honest, NFS Undercover was bad, and EA knew it, that's why they handed development of the latest game in the series to Slightly Mad Studios, who had previously made the GTR series. The game encounters problems that aren't necessarily it's own fault. The driving is good, great even, the issue is that both Forza 3 and Gran Turismo 5 are coming out around the corner, and with most people's opinions about Need For Speed soured by the last iteration, it'll be hard to convince them to go with Shift. It's nice to see EA ditch the ridiculous story mode (IE: undercover cop looking to bust an illegal drug trade by infiltrating some illegal street racing club) in favor of what a racing game should be about: THE RACING. [360 Review] Need for Speed Undercover
by [ Tuesday, 2nd of December 2008 - 06:25 AM ]
Racing titles are ever-evolving. With the intoduction of the open world to the genre, it has seemed that subsequent titles especially after Burnout Paradise have followed suit. While Burnout Paradise was a glowing example of the open world mechanic done right, many of the games it has inspired have been less-than-stellar entries to their respective franchises. The latest evidence of this is Need for Speed Underground. While it aspires to be a “thrilling”, open exercise in evading the cops and rising above the ranks, it falls short in a number of ways, making the other racing contenders available right now the better choice, most definitely.
