Review: DJ Hero 2
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Thursday, 18th of November 2010 - 07:50 PM ]
Here we go with another rhythm game coming into the mix of things. Pun totally intended. The game this time is DJ Hero 2. The follow up and expansion on from last year's DJ Hero that let gamers hop into the world of "professional" DJing. Like every other title in the rhythm genre there are some new additions outside of the core track list. Some good, some not so good and some just kind of "What The F**k?" Let me break it all down for you and let you know if you should actually pick up a copy of DJ Hero 2. Read More...

by Binh Nguyen [ Friday, 19th of March 2010 - 01:34 PM ]
If you are one of the few people who actually picked up DJ Hero for the XBox 360 or PlayStation 3, then I am really sorry you spent all that money for nothing. Just Kidding. Anyways... All DJ Hero owners will be mixing it up with brand new mix tracks from Activision, as they will be releasing a JAY-Z vs. Eminem Mix Pack. Jamie Jackson, Creative Director of FreeStyleGames said, “From sold out concerts to #1 albums to double digit Grammy Awards, JAY-Z and Eminem define what it means to be a successful artist. DJ Hero Renegade 2-CD Pack-in Track List Released
by Brian Bentley [ Thursday, 15th of October 2009 - 03:49 PM ]
Yesterday, Activision released the track listing for the bonus 2-CD pack of Jay-Z and Eminem for the DJ Hero Renegade Edition. As a person who is readily suspicious of special editions and collector's edition, I had my doubts about DJ Hero's special pack-in when I saw that the jump in price from the regular edition was 80 US Dollars. With Wednesday's track listing release for the big addition to the original product and what exactly it will be, it really begs the question if what you're getting is worth the price of admission. Looking at Gamestop's web listing for DJ Hero Renegade Edition, you get: DJ Hero Renegade Edition Includes the following items: DJ Hero Game Renegade Turntable Controller featuring premium metal controls and finish Hardshell Turntable Carrying Case that converts to performance-ready DJ stand Exclusive JAY-Z and EMINEM 2-CD pack featuring unreleased tracks and collectible case designed by artist Shepard Fairey Looking at the track listing of the 2-CD set and being a fan, albeit not a huge stalker-level fan, I was really impressed at what is being included especially a brand new track. DJ Hero Adds More Exclusive Mixes... To The Mix
by Brian Bentley [ Wednesday, 12th of August 2009 - 03:07 PM ]
Continuing to add to the exclusivity of its new DJ Hero franchise, Activision today announced that The Scratch Perverts and DJ Yoda created exclusive mixes for the upcoming release. I think this new release of information shows us two things: Activision wants the fans to know that they are really putting it all into this title and they are also shrewdly telling any competition that may spring up, "Yeah, don't bother, we got this." Not exactly a bold move on the large corporation's part and it's hardly a new concept. Create barriers to entry for your competition even before it exists by firmly planting in the consumers' minds that you are "the one and best. Read More...

Activision Announces Fall Lineup of "Hero"s
by Brian Bentley [ Thursday, 7th of May 2009 - 03:45 PM ]
More Peripherals!!!!  Yay!  I know that is what you're thinking as today Activision announced their fall releases of "Hero" franchises. Attempting to break into the hip-hop and R&B markets, they will be releasing DJ Hero, coming to you with special turntable peripheral.  No longer content with sticking to plastic instruments, they are moving into plastic electronics.  Couch Potato Hero will of course have plastic TV and remote as you sit on your couch playing a person sitting on a couch.  All kidding aside I really hope to see this at E3 in a few weeks and take it for a spin*. All else fails, Buy 'em
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Wednesday, 22nd of April 2009 - 08:04 PM ]
In a dispute which has been raging on for the past couple of days, Activision Blizzard Inc. was ordered by a California court to turn over it's game code and custom turntables for it's new DJ game "DJ hero" back to Genius Studios. Genius Studios was working on a game known only as Scratch: the Ultimate DJ, and was working with California 7 studios to finish the product. Genius and Activision Blizzard Inc, were in discussions about creating a new title but things got sticky and fell through. So what does the Video game Giant do? Read More...

During the interview in which he discussed several economic points regarding the video game industry, Kotick made mention of the fact that he company is working on a title called DJ Hero.   "We have the product called DJ Hero that's coming out later this year which is a turntable that you can actually play competitively and spin discs and mix songs."   FreeStyleGames, was purchased by Activision on September 12, 2008 to help produce downloadable content for games in the Guitar Hero series and are set to develop the game.
