So What Did You Think About Rage?
by Matt Waitt [ Monday, 10th of October 2011 - 02:23 PM ]
Now that Id Software's new IP is out, what do you guys think about it?I was thoroughly impressed with the demo Id showed off earlier this year at PAX East and eagerly waited for its release in August, but sadly it was pushed back to October. I was perfectly ok with that since I knew the finished product was going to blow my mind into oblivion, but I guess it is safe to say that I'm slightly disappointed. Now don't get me wrong, Rage is still a fun game for me to play, but I was expecting a lot more. I guess the hype got my head in the clouds. Read More...

by Corey Dockendorf [ Wednesday, 11th of May 2011 - 11:54 AM ]
Monday brought a lot of long awaited, if not expected, news for the Activision Blizzard team. One important bit of news was a new Call of Duty title that would be released before the end of this year. With Call Of Duty: Black Ops the number one selling game in the US and Europe for the past three months, it's no surprise that Activision is going all in with this one. It's a safe bet that another CoD will sell just as well if not better than its predecessors. "This year's Call Of Duty initiatives will result in the best Call Of Duty experiences we have created to date," Kotick said. Read More...

Call Of Duty To Become The Next Guitar Hero?
by Matt Waitt [ Monday, 25th of April 2011 - 12:20 PM ]
A leaked memo from Activision's CEO Eric Hirshberg is sure to have Call of Duty fans shaking in their boots and at the same time jumping for joy. The memo, from back in February, shows that Eric and the rest of the company are weary that Call of Duty might end up just like Guitar Hero. Let's see why this is a good thing for Call of Duty fans. Eric believes that the key to continuing Call of Duty's success is its Quality, saying "We need to focus: on making games that constantly raise the quality bar; on staying ahead of the innovation curve; on surrounding the brand with a suite of services and an online community that makes our fans never want to leave. Entertainment franchises with staying power are rare. Read More...

Could We Be Seeing Modern Warfare 3 At GDC?
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Friday, 25th of February 2011 - 12:22 PM ]
So we are either going to get a look at the next billion dollar game from Activision or one of the best pranks run on fans of the Modern Warfare franchise. A new site,, has begun to be passed around the net. It doesn't feature anything stating Modern Warfare 3 on it but it does have a countdown with the franchise know font face. Not to mention the site name does link back to the "villain" of Modern Warfare 2. In all actuality, this is most likely a nice little tease for what Activision is going to show off at GDC. We've been through WWII and up to Modern Warfare so now it is time to tackle two "wars" that seem to be glanced over by most FPS franchises. Yea, Call of Duty: Black Ops places us deep in the mix of the Vietnam War and the Bay Of Pigs Invasion all in another attempt to stop the Russians from destroying the U.S. This time they are trying it through chemical warfare and biological warfare. Let's See That CoD Black Ops Uncut
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Thursday, 20th of May 2010 - 12:23 PM ]
The first amendment is one of the few things that we Americans love to hide behind when we are not being cattle and following the "in" crowd. When we truly speak our minds and in turn get ridiculed or condemned for what we say; All because it is against the majority. But that doesn't make it any less a right we have been empowered with so we can say what we want without much worry. You know who we have to thank for that, our great military men and women who go out under orders and slaughter those who would slap our hands with rulers for saying "poopie." So in honor of those men and women, I give you the First Amendment version of the Call of Duty: Black Ops trailer. Read More...

Infinity Ward Keeps Melting Down
by Brian Goodman [ Friday, 16th of April 2010 - 01:17 PM ]
You can not follow game industry news and not have noticed the countless reports of the drama currently going on between publishing giant Activision and successful Call Of Duty developer Infinity Ward. Even legitimate news sources have covered the huge lawsuit frenzy that has been going on. Today, industry analysts have suggested that as many as 20 more Infinity Ward Employees are projected to no longer be employed by the company in a month's time (source Gamespot). Even though strong sales of the Modern Warfare 2 map pack DLC suggest a short term financial positive for Activision, the stock has continued to go down. I may not be a business tycoon or an expert economist, but I do know this Activision. Read More...

Infinity Ward Founders Respawn
by Corey Dockendorf [ Monday, 12th of April 2010 - 02:01 PM ]
Not long ago Activision "let go" the co-founders of Infinity Ward, Jason West and Vince Zampella. Well it looks like these two guys have decided to start a new gaming company and get a new publisher. Jason West and Vince Zampella are two industry leaders who brought the amazing Call of Duty franchise to homes everywhere. Now brushing off the dust from a rumor filled departure, Jason and Vince have founded Respawn Entertainment. The website is up and running, and probably the simplest website in the world. This morning many awoke to rumors quickly circulating the internet and news sites about prominent figures at Infinity Ward being fired by Activision, supposedly even with "bouncers" removing them from their offices. Patrick Klepek of G4's The Feed initially broke the possible story. The rumors began gaining credibility as Jason West's Linkedin page now stated he used to work for Infinity Ward and a Facebook status claimed unemployment. Activision finally confirmed the rumors late this afternoon/early evening. Jason West and Vince Zampella have both been let go from the developer. Read More...

Review: Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2
by Ben Brody [ Thursday, 12th of November 2009 - 10:33 PM ]
As I looked at the massive amount of people at my local GameStop that were in line to pickup MW2, it dawned on me, this is the biggest, most anticipated, and what could be the best selling action game of all time. Over 300 people were standing in the cold for some four hours waiting for the same thing. Many of them planned on calling in sick the next day or skipping out on school just to get some playtime in. Many people were reminiscing about COD4 or saying how they played a bunch of COD4 to get psyched up about MW2. Read More...
