When Activision first announced that High Moon Studios would be making a Transformers game, I was a bit skeptical. That is, until I saw the trailer and screen shots of the game. Granted it is not the Transformers we all, or at least most of us, know and love. And no, I do not mean the recent live-action Transformers movie. I am talking about the 80's cartoon series, including the full length movie where I first cried over the fact that Optimus Prime died in the epic battle with Megatron*. Spider-Man 2099 Officially A Dimension

Well my bubble is now busted. What I thought was a Judge Dread meets Todd McFarlane dimension has finally been confirmed as not to be. But instead called something stupid like Spider-Man 2099. Yea, The E3 video below confirms our worst nightmares. Oh wait... What..? Not our worst dreams but something we were hoping for. That's what I meant. After the reveal for Guitar Hero: Warriors Of Rock and the awesome new tracks, you may be thinking it may have been after E3 that we would hear or see anything further about this next Guitar Hero installment. Well since you are reading this, it is obvious that is not the case. There are still no further details on the game itself, but we do have a look at the next set of plastic guitars we will all be forced to pick up for Guitar Hero: Warriors Of Rock. Although forced might be a little harsh to say after looking at the new redesigns. Spider-Man Shatters Into the Judge Dread Dimension

Ok, not really but it sure does look like a toned down version of Judge Dread in these new screen shots from Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions doesn't it? Of course it does. It also looks like a Spawn look has overtaken Spider-Man from these new screens as well, which looks extremely bad ass in my oh so non-humble opinion. But one question still runs in my head - what dimension is this one? Is it the same Roid-Rage one that the Goblin is seen in? Read More...

What Is Singularity's Deadlock?

In case you were wondering the same thing the title is, let us answer that for you. It is the name of the time manipulation tool you get to use in the game. Well, that was an easy explanation. I guess I'll leave ya there. Or not. Below there is a better look at one of the functions of the device; A function that lets you place people or things into a "time bubble" to either kill or slow down. It also looks like you can make a form of slow-field as well to make dodging enemy fire that much easier. Kind of a nice little function to have in a FPS. Read More...

Halo 2 Online Community Officially No More

Well, The Escapist has reported that the last player has been logged out of the final Halo 2 lobby on the Microsoft dedicated servers, officially ending the game's popular run since 2004. Despite Microsoft officially ending Live support for the original XBox on April 15th, a handful of dedicated Halo 2 fans refused to log off until the last one, with the handle Apache N4SIR was forcibly booted at 1:28 EDT this morning. Despite your feelings on the Halo franchise, it is pretty cool that even a game that is six years old is (well was) still supported by a committed fan base. Mechwarrior 4: Finally Released For Free As Promised

Well there's not much else to report here except go here to get your hands on one of the best PC-exclusive action titles ever released. Nothing streamlined or dumbed down for the console, just pure 30 button action at its best. There have been some reports of server issues, but they seem to have been resolved. I personally think this is an awesome move that will have a short term loss, long term gain for Microsoft (who has finally released one of my favorite IP's), as well as Smith and Tinker - a new developer who has taken the reins for Mechwarrior 5. There are no profits to be found by doing this, but what they will get is the love and respect of the huge Mechwarrior fanbase. Read More...

Shocker: Bungie signs with Activision

As I woke up this morning and logged-in to my Twitter account only to find shocking news of the day. If you do not know by now, Bungie has signed a ten year partnership with Activision. Despite everything that is going on with Infinity Ward and Activision, Bungie went ahead and pulled a fast one on everyone. Activision will have exclusive, worldwide rights to publish and distribute all future Bungie games based on their new intellectual property on multiple platforms and device. It's an exciting time to be a gamer because there is definitely a lot of pivotal stuff going on in our industry right now. Today I want to go on about a reasonably new development of an old concept. Expansion packs have been around since the mid 90's in the PC world. Back when the PC dinosaurs ruled the video game landscape (and just about any game could be played on any computer without a video card that costs more than a PS3), if there was a successful game, a half a year or so later we would see an expansion pack. People who enjoyed a game could purchase more content for around $20 to $30-ish.
