The Sights Of Final Fantasy XIV
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Wednesday, 7th of July 2010 - 02:59 PM ]
We got a release date for the game and a view of what the PC box will look like, but what about an update on what the game looks like. We haven't had a good one of those since around the time of E3. Am I right? Of course I am. Well let's take a look at some of the new creatures to kill and environments to come to us this September 30th. Having had actual hands-on with the beta of the game, I can assure you that what you see below is what the in-game will look like; if you have a system that can handle it. Some of the creatures look a bit new, but I will say I am a fan that they went back to the original look of the Bombs. Read More...

Silent Hill Is The New Detention Center
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Tuesday, 6th of July 2010 - 06:20 PM ]
So if you skip on below, after reading that is, you will see the new trailer for the next Silent Hill game nicely titled Silent Hill 8; at least the working title for now. This is what was shown to those in the horribly failed Konami Press event. At least as far as the presenters and a few titles go, it was failed. But this trailer did not seem to add to that failure at all. The trailer starts off like you would expect, a few people driving through a storm at night in the middle of nowhere. Read More...

Aperture Science Has Ramped Up The Tests
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Sunday, 4th of July 2010 - 02:17 PM ]
I remember way back when I first cracked open my copy of Portal on my PC. Yes I cracked open a copy of a digital download, because it fits my nostalgia. I remember enjoying each level of the game that lead up to the big showdown with GLaDOS and finding out that the cake was indeed not a lie. I got a piece when I was done and it was delicious and easy to wash down. I also remember how much fun it was that the whole game was kept simple and each level was pretty much a tutorial leading up to the final showdown. If you disagree, then you have not truly played Portal. Read More...

Heading Back Into Rapture With New BioShock 2 Single Player DLC
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Thursday, 1st of July 2010 - 06:34 PM ]
After waiting for more of Rapture and BioShock to be announced at E3 in the form of BioShock 3 or a BioShock MMO. I was dubiously let down in my search for that. But at least I found a Big Daddy and a Little Sister there. That and 2K Games just announced some upcoming DLC that adds onto the single player mode of the game. Awesomely Epic. Here is what we will be getting for $4. Read More...

Jigsaw Wants To Know Your Breaking Point
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Thursday, 1st of July 2010 - 04:20 PM ]
After posting about what I saw and got to play at E3 for Saw II: Flesh And Blood, I'm sure that most of you were still sitting on the side of the fence with all the non Saw film lovers. Hey, I was on top of the fence, slowly walking along it to see if I would fall before I got a bit of hands on. This is why I am bringing you something to help make up your minds a bit on Saw II. Here is the video clip they used to show off the game at E3. By the looks of it, the producers got a hold of the creative people behind the trailers for the films, as this trailer is clipped just like the old promotional videos for the movie franchise. Finally A Date For Final Fantasy XIV
by Binh Nguyen [ Thursday, 1st of July 2010 - 11:56 AM ]
The fantasy is back and it is never final as Square-Enix has announced that Final Fantasy XIV will have a global PC release date of September 30th. For those who will get the Collector's Edition, they will be able to access the game eight days prior to the Standard Edition. The prices for the Standard and Collector's Edition are $49.99 and $74.99, respectively, which is really not that bad for what they offer in the Collector's Edition. Read More...

E3 2010: Sights And Sounds
by Binh Nguyen [ Tuesday, 29th of June 2010 - 02:54 PM ]
It has been over a week now since E3 closed its doors. Since then I have been pouring over the many pictures I snapped - from the Activision Party to the Nintendo and Sony presser to everything else in between. I also managed to film some of the Method Man and Redman concert at the Konami booth. You may think it is all fun and games when you are at E3, and at times can be, but it is also a lot of hard work. We work tirelessly to bring you the latest news, impressions and hands-on articles as quickly as we can. We also met a lot of great people and miss the ones we didn't get a chance to meet up with. E3 2010: Getting our Move on
by Brian Bentley [ Sunday, 27th of June 2010 - 12:27 AM ]
After witnessing the success of the Nintendo Wii, the market for games using motion control steamed up at last year’s E3 with the announcement of Microsoft’s Natal Kinect and Sony’s Playstation Move.  Fast-forward a year to this year’s E3 and to Sony’s booth where Binh and I were able to spend a little time with the Playstation Move.  Let the waggle begin. With a lot of E3 focused on either 3D gaming or motion control, Sony’s Eyepet gives you plenty of both. E3 2010 Hands-On: Mafia 2
by Binh Nguyen [ Saturday, 26th of June 2010 - 05:55 PM ]
At E3 2009, when 2K Games made their announcement about making a sequel for Mafia, I was excited on the idea. That excitement grew after playing the demo for the first time at PAX East in Boston. I wanted to play more. A year later, once again 2K Games is showcasing Mafia 2. This time with a much longer hands-on demo of the game. The demo began with you playing as Vito. You are making your way towards the phone as it's ringing off the hook in a '50's house in a typical suburban surrounding. Read More...

I'm Getting A Call From Naughty Bear
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Friday, 25th of June 2010 - 07:47 PM ]
With all the hulabaloo from E3, I almost lost sight of one of this year's titles that I have personally been excited for. That game being Naughty Bear. Yes I did get some hands on, but it looks like the little bugger tried slipping a few new clips and a trailer past me before I could take a look at them to ensure my rules have not been further plagiarized. Wait, three new videos? You cheeky monkey. Read More...

Hunted: The Demons Forge
by Corey Dockendorf [ Friday, 25th of June 2010 - 11:38 AM ]
Dungeon crawlers are making a comeback in this current over-saturation of first person shooters. One of the newest titles announced from Bethesda Softworks, and publisher inExile Entertainment is Hunted: The Demons Forge. This new title is built around the Unreal 3 Engine, and it looks amazing. Focusing on exploration, cover-based combat, puzzles and co-op play, all from a third person perspective, this looks like a must have title for any player that wanted to just rock hordes of monsters with their buddy. Hunted: The Demons Forge comes to life in a third-person dungeon crawl with the intensity and action of a modern-day shooter. For those that don't know inExile entertainment was founded back in 2003 by Brian Fargo. Read More...

E3 2010 Impressions: Mortal Kombat
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Thursday, 24th of June 2010 - 05:13 PM ]
As surprises come, a revitalization of Mortal Kombat was one thing I was not expecting until just before E3. You know when the crazy short popped up online followed by the new teaser trailer for Mortal Kombat. You know what I am talking about. If you didn't you would not have clicked on this article. With all that buzz just days before the event you would expect to have something to show at E3 for it, and boy did they. Nothing playable for anyone on the show floor, but those lucky enough to have a meeting or willing to stand in line for over an hour to get in to the 15 minute showing got a great glimpse of what is going on with the new Mortal Kombat game. E3 2010 Hands-On: Final Fantasy XIV
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Thursday, 24th of June 2010 - 11:04 AM ]
Now here is a title that I was overly excited to get to look at, and that is all I planned on happening this year at E3. Little did I know we would actually get to play hands on this up-and-coming bad-ass "sequel" in the Final Fantasy franchise. Hands-on with two of the major components for an MMO to boot: the character creation and a bit of the combat system. Let me break them down into two sections for you, with pictures. At least screen shots since pictures were not taken too kindly in the sectioned off tent in the Square Enix booth. Read More...

E3 2010 Impressions: Dead Space 2
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Wednesday, 23rd of June 2010 - 04:51 PM ]
Hidden in the back corner, deep within the confines of the EA booth was a small Church of Unitology. Within the church was a plethora of wooden pews with "hymn" books placed before them. As we were ushered in, the electronic candles dimmed and we were greeted with a short introduction. Pleasantries dispatched, we hopped right into the game play of Dead Space 2. Now from watching the EA and Sony press conferences, you may be thinking that you have already received all the visual goodness Visceral Games had to show for Dead Space 2. Well, you are pretty much correct, at least as far as content is concerned. Read More...
