The Beauty Of Final Fantasy XIV
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Tuesday, 25th of May 2010 - 09:51 AM ]
Now I was not a big fan of Final Fantasy XI. Maybe it was the grind. Maybe it was the lack of people that I like to play with. Maybe it was the lower end graphics for the game. At least lower end to my high standards. Yes I am a graphics prima donna now. I have been spoiled by the "next gen" consoles and higher end PC graphics for too long. Well at least now due to online socializing and the below new screen captures of Final Fantasy XIV, it looks like two of the above three issues I had will be taken care of. At least if these are in game shots, most likely, and not pre-rendered from an intro clip or cut scene type clips. Read More...

Review: Iron Man 2
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Sunday, 23rd of May 2010 - 03:14 PM ]
So you've read the comics. You've seen the film, most likely. You hopefully listened to the developer's call. Now you might be wondering if you should go through with playing Iron Man 2 the video game. Well let me tell you my thoughts to hopefully make up your mind on what you should do, or at least make a small impact on which way you sway. Before we get into the nitty gritty, I do want to warn that this game is based on the film. But only based as in it is in the same world as the film's events and also uses two of the cast for voice overs. Read More...

What Is Singularity's Deadlock?
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Friday, 21st of May 2010 - 02:02 PM ]
In case you were wondering the same thing the title is, let us answer that for you. It is the name of the time manipulation tool you get to use in the game. Well, that was an easy explanation. I guess I'll leave ya there. Or not. Below there is a better look at one of the functions of the device; A function that lets you place people or things into a "time bubble" to either kill or slow down. It also looks like you can make a form of slow-field as well to make dodging enemy fire that much easier. Kind of a nice little function to have in a FPS. Read More...

LittleBigPlanet In BulletStorm?
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Thursday, 20th of May 2010 - 05:47 PM ]
Well BulletStorm was fully announced last week with a few nice shots and a video showing it of; Not to mention all the press of Cliff Bleszinski going crazy over all media outlets about it. He likes to talk and let people know what he thinks doesn't he? But I'm side tracking now. His socializing online isn't what is going on here. What is going on here though is that we have scrounged up some new screen shots from EA for BulletStorm. Well at least mostly new. Read More...

Let's See That CoD Black Ops Uncut
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Thursday, 20th of May 2010 - 12:23 PM ]
The first amendment is one of the few things that we Americans love to hide behind when we are not being cattle and following the "in" crowd. When we truly speak our minds and in turn get ridiculed or condemned for what we say; All because it is against the majority. But that doesn't make it any less a right we have been empowered with so we can say what we want without much worry. You know who we have to thank for that, our great military men and women who go out under orders and slaughter those who would slap our hands with rulers for saying "poopie." So in honor of those men and women, I give you the First Amendment version of the Call of Duty: Black Ops trailer. Read More...

Dead Space Lets You Kill Babies Like Dante
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Tuesday, 18th of May 2010 - 04:59 PM ]
Visceral Games just likes killing babies. Or at least that is how it seems from their games. First you get to slaughter the unbaptized ones in Dante's Inferno. Now, for the screens below, it looks like you get to kill "infected" babies in Dead Space 2. Infected and with Cthulhu growing out their back babies. Ok, well those ones need killing I guess... What also needs killing is the person who took these screen captures as well. Read More...

by David 'Hades' Becker [ Tuesday, 18th of May 2010 - 11:38 AM ]
Who likes seeing new stuff about their favorite franchises? Who likes hearing about updates to their favorite games? Who wants to see some of the big heads of the big EA games coming out or out already telling you what we have to look forward to in the coming year, all before the big push at E3 in a month? That's right you do. If you don't, then you better want to. Read More...

Dream Another Dream Naughty Bear
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Friday, 14th of May 2010 - 06:08 PM ]
I swear to the gods that Naughty Bear, like Micheal Bay, love to use things from our pasts and childhoods. Fortunately, unlike Micheal Bay, destroying them is not the case in these "Nightmare" videos. Aliens and The Blair Witch Project already got the "Nightmare" redition done by Naughty Bear, so you must be wondering what is next? Well if you really don't want to see the fun, I'll give you a hint. It's not Event Horizon. Read More...

Valve Announces Portal For Free
by Brian Goodman [ Friday, 14th of May 2010 - 12:40 PM ]
In celebration of the delayed release of Valve's popular digital distribution platform on the Mac, it has been announced that until May 24th you can download the 2007 cult hit Portal for free on either PC or Mac. If you're like me and refused to buy the Orange Box when it came out because it forced you to buy two games you already bought, but STILL love the brilliant blend of flawless mechanics, dark humor, and perfect pacing of Portal, this is great news. If you are one of the three people reading this who haven't played through arguably the best three-plus hours of gaming ever, now you have no excuse. Also posted is this hilarious ad (seen below) to promote the free release. Read More...

Flailing Heads And Dropping The BulletStorm
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Thursday, 13th of May 2010 - 05:53 PM ]
It seems like this was one of the gaming world's only closely-guarded secrets kept for so long. Finally, the embargo on the big hype that is BulletStorm has been lifted. Trailers and screens shots can now be shown to the public for the first time. Hell, if you even head over to the PlayStation Blog. you can even hear Cliff Bleszinski talking up a storm on the title. Pun intended. Read More...

Bruce Willis Is All Over Kane An Lynch
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Thursday, 13th of May 2010 - 03:06 PM ]
Now correct me if I am wrong, but isn't this latest multiplayer mode for Kane and Lynch 2 look extremely close to the story of Die Hard With A Vengeance? Take a team down a section of a subway tunnel and through a hole you've made to steal money from a bank. Sounds pretty damn close, if you take out all the other mind games from the film. Looks like Bruce Willis is getting a small homage in the game for playing the balding Kane in the film version of the franchise. Or I could just be looking into this a bit more than is needed. Civilization Gets Steamed Up
by Binh Nguyen [ Thursday, 6th of May 2010 - 01:12 PM ]
Normally I would have some sort of opening line for many of my articles, but today I got nothing. Maybe its because I am really excited about what I am about to report to you, and that will be 2K Games and Valve have announced an agreement to power all PC versions of Sid Meier's Civilization V with many of Steamworks' features and offer a special Digital Deluze Edition via Steam. Those who pre-order the Regular or Deluxe edition will be rewarded with a free map pack when the game is released later. So whats the difference between the Regular Edition and the Deluxe Edition. Street Fighter: Legacy
by Corey Dockendorf [ Tuesday, 4th of May 2010 - 06:40 PM ]
I know what your thinking, "damn another crappy Street Fighter film," but that's not the case here. This new adaptation looks fantastic, and true to the style and impact that so many Street Fighter fans have felt over the years. This is a movie for the fans. Joey Ansah is a stuntman (last see in Bourne Ultimatum) with a passion, a passion for the Street Fighter franchise. Ansah has personally expressed what so many fans of the game have felt every time a mention of a new Street Fighter movie was announced: "As an actor, film maker and a fan, I have been repeatedly disappointed by the many diluted, un faithful and outright butchered movie adaptations of fighting video games. It was clear to me, that given the way the movie industry worked, we would never see a super faithful, darker toned and more adult themed (or just plain good! Read More...

Review: Super Street Fighter IV
by 345 [ Friday, 30th of April 2010 - 04:00 PM ]
Super Street Fighter IV is definitely a great value at $40, especially for people who didn't pick up the original. Aside from everything originally included with IV, Super also includes a handful of new characters, new stages, new music and updated online play. This includes some new modes and features that fans have been wanting for over a year now. A new roster update comprises of a nice selection of characters from various series in the Street Fighter universe, as well as two new ones exclusive to Super. Juri is a welcome addition with a quickness that many other characters are lacking, and Hakan is a grappler covered in oil that brings more depth to his style of character. Read More...
