Our Favorite Boss Fights Ever - Part 2

WARNING: This contains a lot of spoilers.

1.) Splatterhouse - The Doll

What's creepier than a porcelain doll that says “mama?” I’ll tell you what, how about a damn porcelain doll that's possessed by the undead and turns into a behemoth of flesh, guts, and furniture! That's right, not only was this boss creepy as all hell but it could also kick your head off. After three floors of duking it out Rick finally manages to rip out the doll from the behemoth and then rightfully crush its head under his boot. Such a bad ass fight.

2.) Super Mario RPG: Legend Of The Seven Stars - Smithy

Super Mario RPG is an amazing game and one of Squaresoft’s finest works. The cherry on top for me was the introduction of this "one time" boss in the Mario franchise. Finally we were able to fight an enemy other than Bowser. Hell, Bowser is on your damn team to help stop Smithy! In true RPG fashion Smithy has two forms and is damn hard to defeat, especially if you're not at level 30. Dropping down from the Anvil to the Forge was terrifying for me as a munchkin but after spending a week or so trying to defeat Smithy I triumphed. Like a boss.

3.) Chrono Trigger - Lavos / Lavos Core

I really loved that Chrono Trigger had over seventeen different endings, each happening at different parts of the game. But the one true ending, for me at least, was defeating Lavos by having Crono sacrifice himself. Anyways, fighting Lavos was not only intense but challenging as well. Not to mention the epic music that played in the background. If you haven't played Chrono Trigger then I suggest you go pick it up for the DS right now!

4.) Shadow Of The Colossus - Malus

Just when you thought all of the colossi couldn't get any bigger; this guy comes along and just craps in your cereal. You literally have to traverse a battlefield in order to reach him and once you do, you have to climb your way up to the top. A truly breathtaking and awe inspiring moment when seeing and defeating him for the first time. Not to mention that ending. How amazing was that?

5.) Diablo - Diablo

Getting to Diablo a pain in the ass. You could not simply just run in and kick ass, because you would die in an instant. The first Diablo game was excruciatingly difficult as well as terrifying. Seeing your character jam the soul stone into their forehead and scream like a banshee was amazing. Diablo will always have a special place in my heart.

6.) Earthworm Jim 2 - Bob The Killer Goldfish

The Earthworm Jim series is well known for its outlandish and quirky comedy. The second installment is the cherry on top. The very first boss you face is so ridiculously easy that you can actually put the controller down and you will still win. At the very end of the first level "Anything but Tangerines" Jim finds himself face to face with Bob and in true Earthworm Jim fashion, he eats the damn thing. Right out of the fishbowl. Boom, that's it. So hilariously stupid and unexpected that I nearly pissed myself from laughing so hard.

7.) Zombies Ate My Neighbors - The Titanic Toddler

Not only was Zombies Ate My Neighbors an extremely difficult game, but it also had a lot of horror and comedy movie references in it as well. What was terrifyingly funny was level eight where you had to defeat a forty foot-tall toddler who was apparently on a massive sugar rush. Not only was the giant bugger fast he also felt the need to shoot milk at you. I lost many a lives trying to defeat that damn munchkin.

8.) Duke Nukem 3D - The Overlord

Back when Duke Nukem was actually good, there was a certain unlucky boss at the end of episode two. That boss was the Overlord. Upon meeting each other Duke finds it necessary to yell out "I'm gonna rip your head off and shit down your neck!" A nice round of trash talk if I do say so myself. But what took the cake was when Duke felt the need to walk the walk and proceed to rip off the overlords head and drop a deuce in its neck cavity.

9.) Guitar Hero: Warriors of Rock - The Beast

Being the first and final Guitar Hero game that featured an over arcing story line, Warriors of Rock was pretty damn good and had one of the best overall set lists any metal head could ask for. But what really stood out was the battle against The Beast with Megadeth's song "Sudden Death." A true face melter of a song to battle any foe against. Prepare to have your tendons shredded with this new age thrash classic.

10.) Final Fantasy IX - Ozma

The final optional boss in Final Fantasy IX was not only the hardest boss in the game, but also the most time consuming to get to and defeat. Casting attacks like "Doomsday" that can wipe out your entire party if you're not careful and silencing your whole party makes this boss one hell of an annoyance. What's even worse is that traditional attacks will cause him to "counterattack" by using Curaga and healing himself for a whopping 9,999 HP. Get ready to break some controllers on this fight because I know I would.

11.) The Legend of Zelda: A Link To The Past - Helmasaur King

Fighting this boss was really cool back in the day. You either had to use the Magic Mallet that you got in the dungeon or resort to bombs. Link had to bash away at the mask of the boss before even thinking about killing that beast and then you have to worry about its tail too. A great fight to a great game.

12.) The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time - Ganon

Yeah, I'll admit fighting Ganondwarf was cool and all, but your underwear went from white to brown in two seconds flat when he transformed into Ganon. Not only was Ocarina of Time one of the greatest games of all time, it pushed the boundaries of what a game should be. Especially if you realized that you had to actually fight Ganon. With thunder and lightning cracking all over the place, and darkness ever surrounding, this fight was, no is still, amazing to this day.

13.) Call of Duty: Black Ops - George A. Romero

What's cooler than having the master of zombies be in a zombie game? Well of course having the master of zombies be a zombie that you get to kill. Call of the Dead was a great map in Zombie Mode but the only down side was that you got chased by George the entire time. Nothing a few hundred bullets couldn't fix, am I right?

14.) DMC: Devil May Cry - Lilith and the Mundus Spawn

What's more disgusting than a living Barbie doll? How about one that is attached to a giant demonic baby. Fighting Lilith and the Mundus Spawn for the first time was downright chilling. But the fight itself was masterfully done, with the "phases" of the fight changing the background of the level and the tempo of the techno song. I felt like I was on acid during this fight. A real bad trip.

15.) World of Warcraft - The Lich King

Whether it was ten men or twenty-five men, The Lich King was an epic conclusion to one of the best expansions in the Word of Warcraft. With five or so different phases, this fight was definitely one of the most epic fights in the game. After defeating the Lich King you find out that there must always be a Lich King and a spike of chills runs down your back. The lore in World of Warcraft truly shines in this expansion and in this fight.
