PWNing The Test Of Time

I'm sure that anyone and everyone has most likely heard of Portal. Yes? No? Well ya did now. But in any instance, there is a little more buzz going around about this game and it's previously announced sequel. What is it? Well the fact that it won't be coming soon. Which could be ok.

Why do I say it could be ok, well look at their track record. Half Life came out and then there was a wait and Half Life 2 came out. It was great and worth the wait. It just seems to be their pattern with games here. I'm ok with waiting for them to make another awesome game. No quick slap together just to pump out more schlock for the masses.

Here's a little part of the interview and the full link is at the bottom.

In typical Valve tradition, it won't be Portal with different colors. I think that when you hit something like that, you have two choices: you can quickly replicate it and stick it out there - do the opportunistic thing and cash in on it; or you can do the crazy thing like we did after Half-Life was so successful and go off and try and say, 'Okay, that was revolutionary, so its successor has to be equally as revolutionary.

I think you have to be ambitious. For us, that's really paid off. Half-Life 2 was the right decision, it was painful, six years and upwards of 40 million dollars to develop, but that paid off. That's our recipe.
