CES 2012: Nyko Gets You Ready For Vita

First, the item that stood out the most was the Speaker Stand. Doubling up as a speaker dock as well as a charging station, the Speaker Stand also comes with a remote control fob that attaches to your key ring. The remote control will handle your basic playback functions, which would be fantastic on your desk at home or work to listen to Sony’s Music Unlimited. You’ll be able to pick the Speaker Stand up at Vita launch for $29.99.

Another rechargeable option is the Power Grip. More for your game playing and battery extension, the Power Grip looks to embrace a more ergonomic approach to playing the PS Vita. What I like about this product is it moves my fingers away from the back-touch area – keeping my fingers from interfering in my game. Look for this piece to retail at $24.99.

Nyko would be remiss if they let you head out away from home without a way to charge your Vita and so they have a couple of options for you. The Power Kit is a three-piece kit that comes with a USB cord that connects with a car charger adapter and an AC plug adapter. The Power Kit will run you $19.99. If you spring for an extra $10 more, you can pick up the Power Armor Kit (also known as the Starter Kit). Along with the three-piece Power Kit, you will also get a hard carrying case – which looks pretty swanky – and a cleaning cloth.

Something I was able to check out, but they weren't releasing a price on yet, was a true, hard-finished Vita carrying case. While not full of frills, this case was solid, portable and handsome. Definitely something to look forward to once Nyko announces it.

Last, but certainly not least, was the Game Case Pro. Able to carry up to 10 games or 8 games and 4 memory cards, the Game Case Pro was the perfect size at approximately 5 inches long. It will easily fit in your pocket to go wherever you wish you game – and with a price point of $4.99, you really cannot beat this product.

I was really impressed with the Nyko product line for the PlayStation Vita. The prices are reasonable and the products themselves look and feel solid. Again, all the products I mentioned, save the hard case carrier without a picture, will be available when the PS Vita launches on February 22, 2012.
