VALVE, UPDATES and YOU!!
by Stephanie Naboshek [ Tuesday, 1st of April 2008 - 08:55 AM ]
Over the weekend a handful of updates were released for all you STEAM users out there. If you've already restarted your Steam client since yesterday then it's already been installed. First off, Valve updated the Steam client last week, fixing some bugs and compatibility problems that some of you may or may not have been experiencing. And then again yesterday came two update bundles for those of you who have either FRONTLINES: Full of War and/or Garry's Mod on your Steam account. In the answers to our hopes and prayers, Valve has made a good impact an some common problems experienced during game and fixing bugs responsible for many crashes (God knows my Gmod crashes all the time). No PC or Console Gaming While Drunk Bill
by Aaron BlueWolf72 Molloy [ Monday, 31st of March 2008 - 10:00 PM ]
A new bill to hit the floor of congress, if passed, could mean that you can be arrested for drinking too much while playing Consoles or PC Games. The main concern is that the FBI is going to use the bill to tap the phone lines of anyone who "uses or abuses alcohol" while accessing the internet. With the recent claims that video games cause violence they decided to use this an another way to label the bill. Congress apparently thinks being drunk on a highway is bad no matter what kind of highway it is. I understand drinking has always been an issue and the appeal to stop people who sit at home and drink and get perverted or crazy, but to add the video game part to this is just freaking silly. Sony PWNs Its Users...A Little Bit
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Monday, 31st of March 2008 - 01:54 PM ]
PlayStation Store Update It's not a content update, but a whole redesign of the PlayStation Store. I'm sure you've heard something about this in the last few weeks or so. But it looks like they are actually going through with it sometime in the middle of April. No solid date has been locked down for it. The only set date is that they will not be releasing any new content on the store from April 3rd on to the actual release of the re-vamp. This of course will all be made with yet another Firmware update. Read More…

Gears of War the Movie hitting theaters in 2010?
by Trina [ Monday, 31st of March 2008 - 12:34 PM ]
Marcus and Don will be on a life size screen, but until now we weren't sure of when. Over at ComingSoon.net they spoke with producer Wyck Godfrey about when the Gears of War movie might see the light of day. "We've got our script on and a director we're about to attach. We'll hopefully make that early next year for the summer of 2010," said Godfrey. Cliff Bleszinski has been actively involved in the treatment of the film. The director isn't announced yet, so we'll still have to see who that will be to get an opinion on what the movie might be like. Read More…

Someone's Bank Account Gets PWNED
by David 'Hades' Becker [ Monday, 31st of March 2008 - 12:00 PM ]
Chimera Skull From Playstation 3 Game TV Ad Sold Don't we all wish we had $2500 dollars just to throw around? I'm calling shenanigans if you say no to that. That's right, Shenanigans have been called. But in any instance, this is an interesting thing that popped up on E-bay. Profiles In History is actually offering up the Chimera Skull used in the PS3 commercials for the Resistance TV Ad, with $2,500 being the low end price for the skull. I know, I was kind shocked when I saw it at first as well, but it seems like a legit offer and not one of those, "I'm selling a picture of..." kind of offers. Read More…

Violent Game "Journalism"
by Aaron BlueWolf72 Molloy [ Monday, 31st of March 2008 - 11:26 AM ]
Newspaper offers cash for anti-games story on MCV reports a new high-water mark for British journalism, as StarNow.co.uk relates an offer from "a national newspaper" to pay someone who is willing to blame their crimes on video games, with the offer of money sure to make this quite the legit bit of journalism: A national newspaper wants your story and will pay hundreds of pounds to the right person. Write a few lines about how computer games turned you to crime and if it's something we like, we'll call you straight back. Read More…

Age of Conan
by [ Sunday, 30th of March 2008 - 06:27 AM ]
In my humblest of opinions, MMORPGs are the single greatest genre in gaming. I consider myself to be quite the MMO-Connoisseur having played Ultima Online, Anarchy Online, Everquest, Dark Ages of Camelot, Everquest 2, Final Fantasy Online, Star Wars Galaxies, Guild Wars, World of Warcraft, and Vanguard: Saga of Heroes. Naturally, I am awaiting the impending release of Age of Conan, but what kind of release will be in store for me? As players of the game know, Vanguard was nearly unplayable at release and for quite some time afterwards. Read More…
